School Resource OfficerThe School Resource Officer Program was established in the fall of 1995 for the purpose of providing a trained, uniformed police officer to be assigned primarily to the Rocklin High School and Rocklin Alternative Education Program at Victory High School.

The School Resource Officer works in conjunction with students, school staff, school administration and the Rocklin Unified School District toward the goal of maintaining a safe and secure environment for learning.

As well as providing liaison services between the Police Department and schools, the School Resource Officer networks with Placer County Law Enforcement Agencies, Placer County Juvenile Probation, District Attorney's Office, Child Protective Services, counselors, parents, school neighborhoods, and other community groups related to the school system. The School Resource Officer will provide information and encourage responsive involvement and cooperation between agencies to solve school law enforcement issues.

The primary duties of the School Resource Officer:

  • Enforce laws and assist with emergency situations on and surrounding the assigned campus
  • Present visibility and supervision on the high school campus and surrounding neighborhoods
  • Suppress criminal activity and promote positive relationships
  • Conduct educational programs in the classroom related to the criminal justice system
  • Coordinate security for special events on campus, especially after school functions such as social and athletic events
  • Act as a positive role model for students and provide guidance and referral
  • Actively participate in a truancy program utilizing such methods as attendance patrol, home visits, and School Attendance Mediation Board (SAM).

"Closed Campus" Regulations
The Rocklin campuses in the district have been designated as closed campuses and the following visitor regulations shall be in place at each school site:

  • All qualified visitors, including parents (proof of identity must be shown), must sign in at the office and acquire a visitors badge before visiting anywhere on campus.
  • Students are not allowed to bring visitors to school unless prior administration approval has been obtained.
  • Only Rocklin High School students and staff are allowed to park on campus. Designated areas have been clearly marked for parking. Parking on the school campus is by permit only with strict enforcement conducted by the School Resource Officer.
  • Visitor parking is available on Victory Ln. and Victory Dr. Handicap parking is located in the main administration parking lot.
  • Any violation of the parking laws may result in a citation or vehicle being towed.
