Cadet Training
The Rocklin Police Cadet Program is sponsored jointly by the City of Rocklin and the Rocklin Police Department. The program was originally founded in 1994. The goal of the Cadet Program is to provide career insight into the criminal justice field. The Rocklin Police Cadet Program is run as a paramilitary outfit. Ranks include cadets, sergeants, one lieutenant and one captain. The program is designed to prepare members for a career in law enforcement and can accommodate up to 20 cadets.


Program Requirements
Cadets attend formal training classes and undergo extensive education in the field of law enforcement. Some of the training provided includes arrest control, defensive tactics, criminal law, communications, courtroom testimony and patrol procedures. Cadets also ride with police officers during patrol shifts as a regular part of their training.


Cadet Responsibilities
Cadets provide an invaluable service to the City of Rocklin and the Rocklin Police Department. While training with the Police Department's SWAT team and Reserve Police Officers, cadets help:


Competitions

Cadets participate in several competitions each year with other law enforcement cadet programs. During these competitions, cadets assume the role of a patrol officer for the duration of the competition. Cadets are evaluated on their performance and team trophies are usually awarded.
