Residential Mail-In Program

The City of Rocklin's Mail-In program is intended to allow licensed contractor's to submit certain residential permit applications by postal service. Once the application is received by staff, the permit will be processed. When the permit is approved, the permit, job card, and receipt for fees paid will be mailed to the address listed on the project contact information sheet, unless otherwise requested. (Please note that work shall not commence until you have received an approved permit.) The mail-in program will be limited to the following types of jobs: - Residential Electric Service Upgrades
- Residential HVAC Change-outs ("like for like" only)
- Residential Water Heater Change-outs (Storage Tank)
| Step 1: Determine Special Development Conditions |
Before submitting the project by mail, is there any specific information I need to know from the City of Rocklin? Yes. You should determine if there are any special development conditions for your project. Please contact the Building Division at 916.625.5120 for general information. In some cases, you may need to contact individual divisions. In addition, you should also determine if there are any CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions) or other deed restrictions for the subdivision and/or property. You may want to contact the appropriate homeowner's association, if applicable, for more information. Before applying for the permit, are there any other agencies that should also be contacted? Yes, if applicable, you should also contact the appropriate utility companies for possible fees and requirements. What forms do I need to submit? The following forms are provided for your convenience. Please do not fax. Original signatures are required to obtain a permit. (Note: You should contact the Building Division for more specific information or if you have questions regarding your permit application.) After I submit the Mail-In Program Packet by postal service, what happens next? Once the completed packet is received by Building Division staff, the request will be processed. After the application for a permit is approved, will the contact person for the project be notified? Once your permit application has been processed and approved, the permit contact person will be notified and the permit, job card, and receipt for fees paid will be mailed to the address listed on the Project Contact Information Sheet, unless otherwise requested.
Once the contact person receives the approved permit, may work be started? Yes, once the contact person receives the approved permit, work may be started for the project.

Once the permit is issued and work begins, should I request inspections from the City of Rocklin Building Division? Yes. Inspections that follow the issuance of the permit are provided to ensure that work completed on the project meets current building codes and standards.
