You should determine if there are any special development conditions for your project. Please contact the Building Division at 916.625.5120 for general information. In some cases, you may need to contact individual divisions. In addition, you should also determine if there are any CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions) or other deed restrictions for the subdivision and/or property. You may want to contact the appropriate homeowner's association, if applicable, for CC&R information. Before applying for the permit, are there any other agencies that should also be contacted? Yes, if applicable, you should also contact the appropriate utility companies for possible fees and requirements. Please see our Agency Directory for names, addresses, and phone numbers of local utility companies. | Step 2: Submit Forms by E-Mail |
What forms do I need to submit? The following forms are provided for your convenience. Please do not fax. Original signatures are required to obtain a permit. (Note: You should contact the Building Division for more specific information or if you have questions regarding your permit application.)
An E-Mail Program Packet must be completed for each project address. The packet includes: When the forms are submitted by e-mail, will I also be required to pay fees at that time? No, fees will not be required at submittal. Fees will be collected in the office when the permit is ready for issuance. (Please visit our Fees page for details.) How do I electronically submit the forms? On the packet's last page, there is a "Submit by E-Mail" button. Clicking on this button will automatically open your computer's e-mail program, import the Building Division's e-mail address into the "TO" field, and attach the packet to the e-mail. If you have any comments for the permit processing staff, please add this information to the body of the e-mail.
After I submit the e-mail program packet electronically, what happens next? Once you send the e-mail to the Building Division and it is received by a staff member, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please allow 1 to 2 business days for processing. If additional documents are required you will be contacted. If applicable, possible documents that may be required are: After the application for a permit is approved, will the contact person for the project be notified?
