Roads to Recovery program provides transportation for cancer patients to and from their doctor's appointments and treatments. Volunteers are needed and training is provided.

Breathe California of Sacramento - Emigrant Trails
Breathe's goal is to provide clean air, healthy lungs, and the elimination of lung disease. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate the Celebrity Challenge Luncheon and the Emigrant Trails Bike Trek.

Big Brothers Big Sisters
Provides a one-to-one friendship to boys (8-16) and girls (7-16), primarily from single-parent homes. The Big Brother or Big Sister does not replace the parent or other family relationships. They enhance family life by providing friendship, support and guidance. Male mentors are needed at this time for more than 50 boys in the community. Professional staff members carefully screen each match, and each relationship is continually supervised.

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Sacramento
The Boys and Girls Club goal is to inspire all young people to realize their potential. Volunteers are needed to help work in the clubs to help with tutoring, arts and crafts, and snack preparation.

California Veterinary Medical Association Disaster Response
Volunteers needed to help feed and take care of animals that come from a disaster and help people get animals to safety during a disaster.

Provides one-on-one mentoring along with field trip activities to children of incarcerated parents. Volunteers are needed to mentor youth.

Campfire USA, Sierra Council
Builds caring, confidant youth and future leaders. Volunteers are needed for general office/clerical work and special events.

Caring About Kids
Recruits, trains and certifies mentors; matches mentors with youth; and supports and celebrates the relationship. Mentors can meet with youth of all ages at designated schools, libraries, youth organizations, preschools, churches, etc. Call if you want to be a mentor; have a mentor in your life, host a mentoring site, or learn more about mentoring.

CASA of Placer County
A program designed to assist abused and neglected children involved in the dependency court process. Volunteers are trained to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) whose role is to represent the best interest of a child. Child Abuse Prevention Council of Placer County
Advocates for children in Placer County. The Council works for justice, healing and the prevention of child abuse in all its forms. Volunteers are needed for general clerical assistance and special events.

CIMBL (Citizens Involved Means Better Living)
Organizes a program dedicated to roadside clean up and any type of volunteer efforts needed in the community. Volunteers meet two Saturdays each month to pick up trash at specified locations in Placer County. Great group activity.

VolunteerConvalescent Hospital Card & Visiting Association
Serves over 100 convalescent hospitals in California. Volunteers send greeting cards, visit people, and serve as an activity director or a friend and helper.

Provides programs that include Early Start Developmental Services, Prevention services and many other programs in Sacramento and Roseville areas.

Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)
Senior leaders receive a stipend to assist with the literacy project at one of three elementary schools. (20 hours per week).

Friends of Placer County Animal Shelter
Works with volunteers to find homes for dogs and cats in the shelter. Volunteers are needed at the animal shelter in Auburn, at Petco in Roseville on Sundays, at The Cat House in Dewitt Center, Auburn, and for other activities. Volunteers are also needed to provide foster homes to shelter dogs until adoption.

Grandparents Parenting Again: The "Frayed Knot"
A non-denominational faith based group offering programs of hope, help and inspiration to Grandparents raising their Grandchildren. We are in need of loving childcare workers (over 18) to care for our Grandkids while we meet on the first and third Thursday evenings of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Also help with fun intergenerational activates once a month.

Junior Achievement
Works with volunteers to educate and inspire young people (Kindergarten through 12th grade) to value free enterprise, business and economics, and to improve the quality of their lives. Junior Achievement has an age-appropriate curriculum that teaches students the relevance of education in the workplace through simple business and economic principles. Volunteers receive training to prepare for the classroom. Commitment is up to 1 hour per week, for 5 to 10 weeks, depending upon the grade level.

Mercy Lifeline
Provides a personal response service where help is available by pushing a button 24 hours a day/365 days a year. Volunteers are needed to install units for the elderly and disabled in the community. Volunteers receive training to install lifeline units.

Peace for Families
Serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, their families and friends. Offices are located in Auburn and Roseville. Agency needs volunteers for crisis intervention, supervised visitation, fund-raising and administrative support in both offices. Training is provided for crisis intervention volunteers.

Placer County Peer Court
Works with volunteers, the courts and probation department to provide a diversion and prevention program for good kids who have made a bad decision. Cases are referred to Peer Court from juvenile probation, school site officers, juvenile court or local police agencies. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors for juveniles working through the process.

Placer County SAFE KIDS Coalition
Shares a vision that Placer County will be a community where children will be free from preventable injuries. Volunteers work on projects that include: child passenger safety training workshops and inspections; distribution of smoke detectors; bicycle rodeos; and community events.
