  • If your dog is lost or stolen, the City will know that you own the dog.
  • You can show proof of ownership to any third party.
  • You'll receive a dog tag at the time of licensing.
  • You will have satisfaction of knowing that you are assisting the City in its effort to ensure that all dogs are properly vaccinated against rabies.

How long is the animal license valid?
Typically, a dog license is valid until the expiration date of the rabies/exempting certificate.

How much does an animal license cost?
A one-year license is $43.00. If your dog is spayed/neutered, you will get a 50% discount off the license fee ($21.50/year).

The license fee is prorated to coincide with the expiration of the rabies certificate or exemption certificate. So, if the rabies certificate expires in two months, you only pay for two months.



Did You KnowNo fees are charged for seeing eye dogs owned by a blind or partially blind person.

Dog License

Should I license other animals besides dogs?
Yes, you can get a license for domestic swine as well. Currently there are no license requirements for cats or other household pets.
