National Night Out is an annual nationwide event designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity, raise crime prevention awareness, and develop the partnership between the City and the community. National Night Out is always celebrated on the first Tuesday in August, when the weather is typically hot and dry in Rocklin.

Please mark your calendar for Rocklin's National Night Out Celebration coming up on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.

Rocklin’s National Night Out
On the night of August 2, 2011, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., every official Neighborhood Watch group in Rocklin is encouraged to host a special event in their area. The event may be a block party, barbecue, ice cream social, dessert potluck, or any other type of enjoyable gathering you can invent. Last year, some Neighborhood Watch groups set up “jump houses,” “dunk tanks,” and other innovative recreational games and activities.

Between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., members of the Rocklin Police and Fire Departments and other City employees and officials will visit every Neighborhood Watch group that is hosting an event. This is a great opportunity to have fun with you neighbors and to meet many of the City staff members that serve your community.

Special “National Night Out” Drawing
Every Neighborhood Watch group that hosts an event on August 2, 2011 will also be entered in a special drawing to receive a free Neighborhood Watch sign mounted at a location of their choice. Three groups will be selected to receive free Neighborhood Watch signs.

Block Party Permit
If you plan to block off a street to conduct your event, you must first obtain a Residential Street Closure Permit (a.k.a. Block Party Permit) to ensure that Police, Fire and Public Services personnel have been properly notified of the street closure. You do not need to obtain a Residential Street Closure Permit unless you are blocking off a street.
