Over one hundred volunteers, local business organizations, and City of Rocklin staff participated in the first-annual Rocklin Community Service Day, Saturday October 11, 2008.
More than two hundred oak trees were planted in five Rocklin Parks, which will benefit the environment and community for years to come. In addition to the planting of oak trees, volunteers spread mulch under existing trees. View the press release.
"Whether planting a tree or helping to improve the soil, volunteers worked together and showed their dedication to improving the community we serve," said City of Rocklin Councilmember Brett Storey. "I applaud the efforts of the many volunteers and our city staff who came together for our first City of Rocklin Community Service Day. I appreciate each and every volunteer for the time and effort they dedicated to this project."
Official sponsors for Rocklin’s Community Service Day included; Auburn Placer Disposal Service, omni-means, PG&E, and unfi. All cash donations were deposited directly into the City of Rocklin Oak Tree Mitigation Fund and used exclusively for the purchase of oak tree saplings and other essential materials.
